Purchasing adaptive snowsports equipment to meet increased demand and replace outdated gear, which limits access for individuals with disabilities. This project aims to improve accessibility by providing specialized equipment like mono and bi sit-skis. It will foster inclusion, strengthen community connections, and offer life-changing opportunities for individuals who have not previously been able to participate in skiing and snowboarding.

Awarded $5, 185 to support the NETS program which lends a full set of equipment (two posts, four sets of pinnies, and four balls) to a school to play Netball. It also provides a free session to teach the game and rules to teachers so they feel comfortable teaching the sport to the children and help with developing intramural programs.

Awarded $31, 463 for the purchase of softball equipment to support the All-Star Girls Fastpitch Association. This will provide an environment that nurtures continuous improvement, teamwork, skill development, sportsmanship, and fun for athletes in the Calgary Area who have the skills and desire to compete at the highest competitive “A” level. Upgraded equipment and new training technologies will place athletes on a level playing field with their competition. 

Purchasing lacross equipment to allow the CSLC and other lacrosse groups to host regular and tournament games and promote the sport. Purchased equipment will accomodate junior and senior players.

The Villains Dome will house a full-sized artificial turf soccer field. This facility will have a significant impact on our community, specifically youth soccer in Calgary and surrounding areas. The addition of this facility will play an important role in meeting the increasing year-round demand for indoor sport fields in Calgary. Along with being a central and accessible location for child (U3-U11), youth (U12-17) and adult (18+) soccer programs, the Villains Dome will provide a much needed space for other sports and recreational activities in our community.

Awarded $75, 000 to upgrade the track, eqipment, and accessibility features of the facility. A modern, inclusive track ensures safe, reliable training conditions that reduce injuries and support peak performance. For Paralympic athletes, accessible surfaces and equipment are essential to removing barriers and enabling equal opportunity to succeed. A project intent on creating more accessibility and less risk in our space that is constantly being used by Alberta’s top athletes.

Fencing requires specialized flooring (pistes) and scoring systems (boxes and reels) for training and for competitions, which aren’t readily available in Calgary. This project will complete the training and competition area for the fencing facility with pistes and scoring systems, including a level flooring between pistes to increase safety. This will allow Epic to train more atheletes (from beginners to Olympians) and host provincial and regional competitions. It will be the only fencing facility of its size and scope on the prairies.

Awarded $125, 000 to oversee an expansion, modernization, and upgrade to the existing facility providing a wider range of recreation programs and services to meet the needs of the greater downtown area, surrounding communities, and all Calgarians. Upgrades include a complete renovation of the competition pool deck, dive tank, teach pool, cold tub and steam room. Atheletes who train and compete at the facility, coaches, officials, and recreational users will have access to a new, safer location. People of all ages and skill levels participating in lessons, clubs, camps, and lifesaving leadership programs will benefit from the approved aquatic area.

Working towards the creation of Calgary’s first urban snowsport facility that will be central, admission free and accessible by public transit. Currently, many Calgarians are excluded from participating in snowsports due to financial, locational, and cultural barriers. With rising lift ticket prices, remote destinations and an exclusive lifestyle, snowsports participation is currently limited to a minority of Calgary’s population. By removing present barriers, Our Snowpark Society hopes to increase access to snowsports in Calgary to improve the health and wellbeing of Calgarians and their communities.

Awarded $60, 000 to upgrade the existing rink into a vibrant and dynamic all-season multisport court. The new space will accommodate a range of activities from hockey and skating to basketball and ball hockey fostering sport development, participation and engagement in the community all year long.

Chinooks FC is a non-profit organization focused on soccer player development through premier soccer training. New equipment will have a direct and meaningful impact on player experience. With the upgraded gear, players will enjoy a safer, more engaging environment, which will enhance both their enjoyment of the sport and their development. This equipment will also support players in refining their skills and improving their overall performance. 

The AMP Community Champions program was designed to remove barriers to sport and physical activities by providing an arena where children regardless of race, gender, ability or skill level get the same opportunity to be active and social in sports. This program invites grade 3 students to explore the sport of sledge and roller hockey in a safe and inclusive environment free of charge with all equipment provided, ultimately removing all barriers to enter sports. This program provides each group/class with an action packed day including 2 hours of physical activity (1 hour roller hockey in the gym and 1 hour sledge hockey on the ice). Participants will also take part in a 1 hour educational/motivational workshop led by current and former athletes, and para athletes.
