Building Outdoor Play & Learning Spaces for Calgary’s Kids
Did you know most schools aren’t built with playgrounds or the funding to create them?
When St. Rose of Lima School transitioned from junior high to K-9 school, there were no resources available to build a playground. For more than a decade, the schoolyard remained empty and the students missed out on essential opportunities for play, skill development, and healthy living opportunities that children in other communities enjoy.
In 2025, a dedicated group of parents from the Rundle community came together to raise funds, advocate, and build a playground for over 300 children at St. Rose School and its surrounding communities.
Today, the empty yard was transformed into a vibrant space for learning, connection, and play.
