Flames Rotary Sport Zone

An All-Season Multisport Court is Coming to Four Communities

Many Calgarians lack access to free, nearby spaces for sport, play, and physical activity especially in neighbourhoods where facilities are limited or aging.

Parks Foundation, in partnership with Calgary Flames Foundation and Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park, and Rotary Club of Calgary Downtown, is bringing the Flames Rotary Sport Zone to offer year-round access to high-quality, multi-use sport amenities across Calgary.

Park Features

The Flames Rotary Sport Zones are innovative outdoor courts that will serve as ice rinks in winter and transform into multi-sport courts for the rest of the year.

Once the amenities open, Calgary Flames Foundation will support low-to-no-cost programming and provide free-to-use equipment and low-to-no-cost programming such as Learn to Skate, Learn to Play, summer sports, and ball hockey, delivered with support from community partners, helping to break down barriers and open access to quality recreation.

PRECEDENT ONLY. DESIGN SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

ALL-SEASON, MULTI-USE RECREATION

Designed to function as outdoor ice rinks in winter and multi-sport courts the rest of the year to support a range of activities from skating and ball hockey to summer sports  maximizing year-round use.

INCLUSIVE & COMMUNITY-DRIVEN

Features community-inspired design with free-to-use equipment and low-to-no-cost programming. Encourages participation from people of all ages and skill levels, lowering barriers to recreation.

SAFE & FLEXIBLE PLAY ENVIRONMENTS

Incorporates built-in netting and half-height boards to promote safety and ease of use. Flexible layouts support multiple games or activities at once, enhancing engagement and spontaneous play.
