CN Railway Playpark
A Revitalized, Inclusive Destination for Play, Skate, and Community Connection
CN Railway Playpark had undergone a major transformation to better meet the needs of the surrounding community, where families and children previously had limited access to inclusive, year-round recreation spaces.
In 2024, Parks Foundation expanded the original play area along the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway in Applewood, turning an underused corridor into a welcoming destination where families, children, and individuals of all ages and abilities can play, gather, and feel a stronger sense of belonging.

The revitalized playpark offers more opportunities for play, social connection, and active living, the new CN Railway Playpark supports community wellbeing and helps ensure that nearby residents have a vibrant outdoor space they can enjoy every day.
New features include:

Inclusive playground equipment designed for a range of ages and abilities

A shaded gathering area with seating for caregivers, families, and neighbours

A skateboard spot that offers local youth a dedicated place to ride and practice skills

Pathways that connect the playpark to the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway, supporting walking, rolling, and cycling

Open space that can be used for informal play, meetups, and small community activities
